Crowned.
Nothing is more regal or classic than a messy 1970's ballerina bun. It's feminine & understated, elegant & confident, but most importantly, hassle free. This look is for a very specific type of bride, and I think you know who you are.

Featured Bridal Party Dress: AUGUST
The Lady Luck Dress is a linen homage to a Fellini-era leading lady. An asymmetrical neck reveals the perfect amount of collar bone and shoulder set against the dramatic, over sized ruffle collar. The contrasting dress body has a traditional shift silhouette and can be transitioned in to Fall with opaque tights and platforms, creating a sweet 60's mini. Available in silk for holiday affairs. Love, love this idea for handkerchief wedding invitations, save the dates, and keepsakes from Junebug Weddings. How perfectly sweet and practical (light & small!) and so easy to customize, whether you create your own original napkins or print on some sweet vintage ones. We did something similar for an event at the shop when we hand sewed some blush linen napkins and had our guest artist Kime Buzzelli screen print them as limited edition party favors. There they are below. It's a banner idea, no?

Locations.
I just went away to the beautiful and breathtaking Hudson Valley and all that I can wonder is why doesn't everyone want to live there? How can there not be a stampede up the Taconic? Whatever the reasons (mostly work I would assume), there's no reason not to go every so or very often for a getaway. And upstate weddings have always been my favorite. One place that I went in particular, the Hawthorne Valley Farm, is a kind of idyllic, Utopian community centered around agriculture, community, and education. And, I think, would also be an incredible place to get married. Here are some pictures I snapped while there and a few surrounding locations, all of which I hope to return to soon.

Snapped.
Micah & Megan, their photos (as well as their subjects, it would seem) are magical and born of the moment. In a sea of staid poses, their work is so completely refreshing, capturing spontaneous and authentic renderings of their subjects, embracing their spirit and individual nature rather than applying a check list of text book setups. Take a look at their site, here, and some of their smile inducing work below.

Thanks to Once Wed for sharing the incredible work of jeweler Katherine Bowman, this ring being my favorite little reimagined Edwardian dream.
